Bophelong Drop-In Centre

Bophelong Drop in Centre was officially opened on the 9th of December 2005 and registered with Social Development in the year 2007 as a nonprofit making organization. This organization has been instrumental in bringing changes and empowerment to many lives within its operation. Over the past year their activities have included.

  • Assisting families to access government social grant.
  • Conducting HIV/AIDS awareness in the community.
  • Provision of agricultural starter packs to the vulnerable household.
  • Provision of care and support for the implementation of income for PWA’s and vulnerable families through self-help projects.
  • Networking with other stake holders, who can give alternative care for the orphan and vulnerable children such as foster care, adoption and community development projects.

Furthermore, the program is aimed to cater for orphans and children who are vulnerable because of HIV/AIDS and poverty. We provide the children with nutritious meals twice a day, monitor their school work and do psychosocial support in general.

  • Provide on-going assistance in meeting requirements for accessing social grants and guidance throughout the process.
  • To build self-esteem through sport and cultural activities.
  • To encourage the community to participate their economic development.

  • Provide a holistic service, which is accessible to orphans and other children made vulnerable by HIV/AIDS and poverty.
  • Provide support to the community in containing and developing young generations within a familiar/culturally suitable environment.
  • Linking families and care workers with poverty alleviation programs and services in the community.
  • To encourage the community to participate in the economic development of the program through initiatives such as adopt a child.
  • Set up sustainable income generating projects that would benefit the community and the organization.
